What is blended learning?

Le hybrid learning is a mixed training that combines classroom (when the coach provides classroom theoretical and practical lessons participants) and distance learning (when participants train through a digital training platform).Face-to-face training is comprehensive and effective, but restrictive, as participants need to be absent from work to attend. This represents a significant deficiency for the company.

E-learning training allows participants to train at their own pace, without jeopardizing their working hours. However, trainees miss the presence of a trainer who takes care of the trainees' follow-up and reinforcing their achievements. Although tools like video conferencing are used in a virtual classroom, nothing beats human presence.

Blended learning environment highlighted in report
Increasingly, parents are concerned about their children's school performance. Because of this, many administrators are finding that blended learning environments (classroom + mobile devices like smartphones and tablets) hold great promise.

According to this year's Speak Up report, 45% of administrators surveyed indicate that the implementation of blended learning models is already producing positive results.

On the other hand, 63% of students from the sixth year onwards agree that blended learning would be a good way to learn. In contrast, only a quarter of students indicate that they are, in fact, learning in a mixed environment.

The research also finds that students in mixed environments use technology more often than their peers in traditional classrooms. In addition to using in the classroom, these students are also more likely to study outside of school using mobile apps with online videos to assist with homework or by sending questions to teachers.

Benefits of combined education

When the question was related to the benefits of combined education, 64% of students from the sixth year onwards said they were able to learn at their own pace; 63% reported greater development of creative skills and 61% said they collaborated more with colleagues.

A greater use of tools and digital resources to assist in school was pointed out by students who have a personal mobile device, compared to students who do not have access to regular technology at school. For those with laptops: 66% of students create more presentations compared to 49% per cent of students who do not use any technology.

Almost three-quarters of students with devices provided by the school, as well as students with little access to technology, agree that each student should be able to use a mobile device during the school day for learning.

Students see the smartphone as the ideal device for communicating with teachers (46%), colleagues (72%) and for using social networks (64%). Laptops are the preference of high school students for written assignments (87%), online tests (74%) and internet research (59%).
