Mr. James Dondero does much of his charitable work through his company, Highland Capital Management LP. In fact, after starting Highland Capital, he and his friends made it part of the company’s philosophy to do charitable work. Some examples of institutions Mr. Dondero helped are The Dallas Zoo, The Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Education is Freedom, and the Tower Scholar Program and many local programs as well. James Dondero moved to Dallas in 1993 and soon after started Highland Capital Management. He presently serves as it’s President. Soon after starting his company, he became a pioneer of sorts in the field of Collateralized Loan Obligation. He has amassed over 30 years of experience in the credit and equity management side of things. This also includes his work as Chief Investment Officer with Protective Life, which is a subsidiary of GIC. In fact, he helped start this subsidiary and took it from start-up status all the way to a $2billion company in four years.
